Interested in Blogging for a Living?

Let’s Try This 6 Month Social Media Experiment Together – What’s the worst that can happen?

When I first “met” Lauren “Ell” Duclos from Twitter’s Boss Girl Bloggers, I was immediately struck by her business acumen. This no-nonsense girl boss was killing it on Pinterest, had successfully turned blogging into a full time career and was in her mid-twenties. I was impressed.

Just a girl trying to pursue a life that makes her completely happy.
Addicted to coffee, wine, dogs & Pinterest.
” – Ell.

But, what really got my attention was her generosity. On any given day, you’ll find Ell blowing up on social media sharing unlimited advice on “making it” in this industry and yet she still has time to have real conversations with her followers. DM Ell and you’ll get Ell, not a assistant. She’s always readily available to answer questions and offer encouragement.

This was important to me as a new blogger trying to sponge up as much information as possible while growing my social media tribe. I was about to drop several hundred dollars on a eCourse offered by the blogging family sensation It’s A Lovely Life, when I reached out to Ell to ask for an opinion. I felt she pointed me in an honest direction and I’ll forever be appreciative.

It wasn’t long thereafter that I came across one particular post of hers that piqued my interest: “How I Turned My Blog Into a Career – In Just 6 Months!” This little piece of inspiration details her journey; but, is not to be confused with a 6 month blogging course, as she does not have one… yet (wink).

Reading that post was to be the impetus of my next decision. I contacted Ell and proposed a collaboration, a “social media experiment” of sorts. I would take all of her courses, follow any and all advice for the next 6 months and at the end share my experience in a blog “play by play”.

There were to be no guarantees, of course. And that was ok. After all, I always ask myself: what’s the worst thing that can happen? Nothing. Knowledge is power and most of her courses are either free or less than $50.

What was I hoping to gain? A head start to turning my passion into a self-sustaining career. I love to write; but, let’s be clear. Am I ready to walk away from a successful career today? No. Do I have an exit strategy? Absolutely! And this plays into it perfectly.

So, here we are, it’s January 2019 and I’m ready to kick-off this social media experiment! New year, new game-plan and this is what you can expect:

  • I’ll start with Ell’s famous “Pinterest eCourse” to help grow blog traffic and then move on her monetization eCourse “Mastering Sales with Ell” that will highlight ways to make money blogging, e.g. brand collabs, affiliate marketing, etc. Click here for her services menu.
  • At the end of each of month, I’ll post an update to this process and answer any questions.
  • Once, I’ve completed the “6 Month Social Media Experiment,” I’ll share a recap of my journey offering an unbiased critique of this social media maven’s road-map and any pertinent financials.

I hope you’re just as excited as I am! As Ell says, “pursuing your dream life is tough as hell but if you have the blogging heart, you will get there!” And I couldn’t agree more!

So, let the fun begin! Hit the subscribe button and stay updated on my journey or let’s do this together! Curious about the “backstory”? Click here.
